Ministry of Education has proposed the sum of N175m to defend her budget.
The ministry described the sum as part of an ongoing expenditure in its budget proposal for which it has already began the expenditure.
The ministry in her budget proposal to the National Assembly requested the legislature to approve N175,000,000 (One Hundred and Seventy-Five Million) for what it described as budget preparation, defence, and administration.
Captured as an Economic Recovery Growth Plan, project, the ministry stated thus: “ERGP30204384 Budget preparation, Defence and Administration N175,000,000.”
The Ministry of Education has in the Bill before the national assembly said the defence of its budget is “ongoing” as it started to defend the budget with N175,000,000 (One Hundred and Seventy-Five Million Naira) only in the 2024 appropriation budget.
Tribune findings showed that in the 2024 appropriation Act, the national assembly approved “ERGP30204384 Budget Preparation, Defence and Administration” as a “New” budget line to facilitate budget preparation, defence, and administration at the sum of N175,000,000.
This figure is independent of the budget proposal captured in the annual budget expenses and administration for which it has proposed N110,000,000, (One Hundred and Ten Million Naira only in the 2025 Bill.
It reads: “22021014 annual budget expenses and administration is 110,000,000” a figure that is over N2 million less than the presently proposed figure.
Tribune further checks revealed that in 2024 Appropriation Act, the “22021014 annual budget expenses and administration” expenditure is “N112,366,266.”
It revealed that the amount for the 12 pages of the Ministry of education headquarters budget to the national assembly would have been produced with not less than N1 Million each.
