THERE was jubilation at the Federal Ministry of Education as Dr. Jamila Shu’ara took office as the new Permanent Secretary succeeding Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, to drive the process of ‘Education for Change’ of the ministry.
This followed the recent approval for redeployment of three permanent secretaries by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Dr Shu’ara is a former Director Tertiary in the ministry.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony, Dr Shu’ara expressed appreciation for the reception accorded her by the outgoing permanent secretary and directors in the ministry.
She expressed her belief in teamwork and called for the support of all the staff of the ministry.
The incoming permanent secretary commended Dr. Yemi-Esan for her doggedness, noting that her tenure witnessed a lot of achievements in the education sector and promised that she would always tap into Yemi-Esan’s wealth of experience.
Speaking earlier, Dr. Yemi-Esan acknowledged the magnitude of work in the ministry and thanked God for giving her the strength to cope effectively.
She also expressed appreciation for the support she got from the directors and the entire staff of the ministry.
Dr. Shu’ara, until her deployment, was the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources. Dr. Yemi-Esan has been posted to the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation,
