The telephone number of Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, has been hacked, with unauthorised individuals using his WhatsApp account, an official from the ministry has revealed.
In a statement issued on Friday by Folashade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Education, the public was urged to disregard any messages or requests coming from the compromised number until further notice.
“We deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause,” the statement said, adding that the issue has been reported to the relevant authorities and is currently under investigation.
The ministry also advised the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to the hacked account.
