Education Commissioner cracks down on unethical practices in Kogi schools

Kogi State Government has vowed to put an end to any form of student extortion and unethical practices in schools across the state.

The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones FCIB, gave the assurance when he paid an unscheduled visit to Muslim Community Secondary School in Lokoja on Tuesday.

He also reiterated his commitment to upholding the free education policy of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

He warned the staff of the school against extorting students, insisting that the government’s free education policy was aimed at alleviating the financial burden on parents and ensuring that every child has access to quality education.

“The days of extorting students for personal gain are over. Any principal or teacher caught engaging in such unethical behavior will face serious consequences,” Jones warned.

The commissioner also encouraged the students to focus on their studies and be good ambassadors for their school and community.

Jones conducted a thorough inspection of the school premises to ensure that students were receiving the quality education they deserved.

With this surprise visit, Hon. Wemi Jones FCIB has made it clear that he is dedicated to ensuring that every child in Kogi has access to a quality education free from corruption and exploitation.

The commissioner was accompanied by a team from the Ministry, which included Mr. Ere Salami, Director of Basic Secondary Education, and Mrs. Egbeleye Ebunlomo, Director of Exams.
