Vice chancellor of Edo State University, Uzairue, near Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, Professor Emmanuel Aluyor has warned the newly matriculated students of the institution against indulging in hooliganism, smoking or use or possession of illicit drugs like Indian hemp, colorado, skunk, heroine amongst others.
He advised that instead of taking illicit drugs, the students should make the best use of the available facilities in the university so that they could become well-grounded and employable after graduation from the school.
A total of 757 students were matriculated at the ceremony.
Speaking at the 7th matriculation ceremony, Professor Aluyor explained that the figure was made up of 683 candidates who were offered admission by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and another 74, who transferred from other universities to the institution.

He said that the university had achieved numerous milestones including its emergence as the third best university in Nigeria in the 2018 Open Education Resources ranking by the National Universities Commission, fourth best in Nigeria by the Times Higher Education ranking in 2021 among others, since it was founded over six years ago.
Professor Aluyor added that “it is on record that the university is the first to own an anatomage for the training of medical students in Nigeria and the first in the country and West Africa to acquire the CANVAS learning management system for teaching in the university.”
“CANVAS learning management system affords you the opportunity to check on your ward’s performance in the university by actively using the parents section of the learning management system,” he said.
