THE Vice-Chancellor of Edo University, Iyamho, Professor Emmanuel Aluyor has announced plan to dole out the sum of N5 million to graduating students with the best entrepreneurial business ideas.
Aluyor who made this known ahead of the November 7 second graduation ceremony of the institution, said the money was to enable the award-winning students to actualise their business ideas.
Besides, Aluyor said the University Council had also approved over 100 scholarships each year to indigent students.
Notwithstanding the nationwide closure of schools as a result of the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic, the vice-chancellor said the institution was able to complete the 2019/2020 second semester lectures and examinations through its novel CANVAS LMS.
“The goal set for Edo University, Iyamho, is that our students will graduate with entrepreneurial skills that will make them not only entrepreneurs (self-employed) but will also make them employers of labour,” he said.
He said the graduates of the institution would contribute significantly to the development of Edo State in particular and Nigeria as a whole through the knowledge and skills acquired.
Aluyor noted that all programmes due for accreditation by NUC and other regulatory bodies had been accredited with the least score of 82 per cent for assessed programmes.
He reiterated the determination of the school at providing quality education of a world class standard through teaching, research and community service.
