Edo residents laud Gov Obaseki’s giant strides

It was rains of encomiums on Edo Governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Thursday in Benin, as residents commended the governor following the unprecedented development brought to the state by his seven-year administration.

The people who were in their thousands, made of different groups went round different parts of the Edo South Senatorial District on projects tour with the governor applauded Obaseki for the execution of the projects for the betterment of the people.

Some of the projects visited include the 6000 barrels per day Edo Modular Refinery and Petrochemical Company (ERPC), located in Ologbo in Ikpoba Okha and the 2500 barrels per day Duport Refinery run by Duport Refinery Company Limited, in Egbokor, Orhionmwon local government area.

Greenhill Farms Ethanol Factory, Victor Ueaifo Creative Hub, Edo State College of Nursing Sciences, Edo Central Park, the newly reconstructed Stella Obasanjo Hospital, John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy,

Others are Edo Tech Park, Ossiomo Power Plant, the newly constructed Industrial Court Complex, Edo Production Hub, Golf Mews, Benin City Mall, Education Hub, Labour House Industrial Harmony ( built for Members of the NLC in the state), the newly reconstructed Nigerian Observer office and Edo Agric Hub.

The project tour of the Governor is part of activities to mark this year’s Alaghodaro Economic Summit, tagged “The Edo Story; Creating Shared Opportunities into the Future”

Speaking with journalists during the tour, the people in their separate remarks expressed appreciation to the governor for the giant strides in Edo.

The people who were visibly elated and rolled out drums, maracas and gongs in jubilations of the projects maintained that the projects have since improved the social and economic activities in the state.

Governor Obaseki said the modular refineries when in operation, will not only help in solving the fuel crisis in the country but will also boost the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

He noted that the two ethanol plants which are in various stages of completion would be commissioned before the end of his administration.

According to the governor, the plants are expected to produce food-grade ethanol for use in the confectionery and beverage industry as well as create employment opportunities and boost the manufacturing sector.

Mr Asue Ighodalo,  Chairman Board of Trustees, Alaghodaro Economic Summit Limited had at a press conference on Wednesday, said that the yearly Alaghodaro Summit, had in the last seven years provided a platform for public and private sector participants in Edo State to chart the course for the State’s growth trajectory.
