Edo PDP flags off campaign, warn against rigging

AUCHI, the headquarters of Etsako West, the home local government area of the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole played host to a massive crowd of supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the party kickstarted its campaigns for the 2019 general elections in Edo North senatorial district.
The Ikelebe Sports Arena at Auchi was crowded with enthusiastic party faithful who thronged the venue from the five other local governments of Etsako East, Etsako Central, Owan West, Owan East and Akoko Edo as early as seven in the morning, defying the scorching sun.
Moved by the large turnout, the party’s governorship candidate in the 2016 election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu declared that it was crystal clear that the PDP was still alive and poised to win the election in the senatorial district.
The state chairman, Dr Dan Orbih lambasted the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for plunging the country into the worst economic recession since Independence in 1960.
Orbih deployed the bad state of states and federal roads in Edo State, noting that it now takes over twelve hours instead of five, from  Benin to Abuja because of the bad road which connects the southern part of the country to the south.
He warned voters against succumbing to desperate politicians who will be out to buy their votes in the forthcoming elections.
He said: “We must take our destiny in our hands. The roads in Edo are so bad now that it takes over twelve hours to travel from Benin to Abuja instead of five. Benin to Asaba and Benin to Warri roads because of the bad shape of the roads. The roads which were built by the PDP are not being maintained.”
From failure to defeat the Boko Haram insurgency to the high unemployment rate to the unending power blackout to numerous unfulfilled promises, Ize-Iyamu said that President Muhammadu Buhari has failed w it woefully and should be voted out.
The Edo North senatorial candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Momoh said that the provision of wheelbarrows and motorcycles was all Senator Francis Alimikhena who is gunning for a second term, only achievement.
While calling on the people to defend their votes and resist rigging, the former House of Representatives member called on PDP members to obtain their Permanent Voters Cards.
