FOR allegedly breaching legislative powers and divulging the official secret, Edo State lawmakers have set up a five-man ad-hoc committee to investigate the deputy speaker, Mr Victor Edoror.
The Speaker, Alhaji Kabiru Adjoto who constituted the committee during plenary in Benin yesterday charged that Edoror divulged the official secret to the public, noting that the allegations were weighty and capable of bringing the house to disrepute.
He listed the members of the committee to include Mr. Nosayaba Okunbor, member representing (All Progressives Congress, APC Orhionmwon East) who will serve as the chairman, Mr.Victor Asein, (APC Owan West), Mr Osaigbovo Iyoha (APC orhionmwon Oredo East) , Mr. Festus Edughele, (APC Esan South-East) and Mr Patrick Iruobe, ( People’s Democratic Party, PDP Esan North East 1).
The speaker who however refused to disclosed details of the allegations disclosed that the committee has up to Wednesday, June 27 to submit the report.
Also, the lawmakers adopted a business calendar of 65 days for the first quarter, the fourth session of the sixth assembly.
The motion to adopt the business calendar was moved by the Majority leader, Mr Roland Asoro (APC Orhionmwon South) and seconded by the Chief Whip, Iyoha.
