Edo information commissioner resumes office, pledges to prioritise staff welfare

The newly appointed Commissioner for Communication and Orientation in Edo State, Mr Andrew Emwanta, has promised to prioritise staff welfare, just as he reiterated his commitment to information dissemination in the state.

Emwanta made the promise when he resumed Office after being sworn in as commissioner.

The commissioner was received by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communication and Orientation, Mr Joses Sede at the Ministry’s complex in Benin

He emphasised the need for information officers to continually keep pace with current trends in the practice of information gathering and dissemination in order to optimally realise the vision of Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration of Making Edo Great Again, MEGA, agenda.

Emwanta while pledging his commitment to staff welfare in form of incentives, also promised to revive staff cooperative society, adding that a happy man would make a hardworking man.

He urged staff to up their game by developing a new attitude towards work to sell the government MEGA agenda, which he described as sellable as there are structures like Ossiomo Electricity Project providing 24 hours supply.

He promised to facilitate the extension of the electricity supply to the Edo Broadcasting Service in order to ensure uninterrupted broadcasting.

The Permanent Secretary who conducted the commissioner on a tour of facilities and the various departments in the ministry introduced the Management Staff and officers to the commissioner.

Emwanta also visited the Nigeria Observer Newspaper, where the General Manager, Mr Solomon Imohiosen received him.

A copy of the Nigerian Observer Newspaper was presented to the commissioner after being conducted around the facilities and departments of the Newspaper Company.
