The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), in the 2023 general election, Mr Peter Obi, on Tuesday joined the LP governorship campaign train to canvass support for the gubernatorial candidate of the party in the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State, Olumide Akpata.
The presence of the two-term governor of Anambra State boosted the campaign rally held at different locations within the Benin metropolis, where Obi urged eligible voters in the state to come out enmasse to cast their votes for the party.
Obi assured the people that the LP gubernatorial flag bearer would fix the state and move it forward, adding that the party in the government of the state would reduce the current hardship being felt in the state.
The campaign train took off from the party’s secretariat on Sokponba Road through the centre of the city, otherwise known as Ring Road, deturning at different intervals to Oba Market Road, Mission Road, New Benin Road, and New Lagos Road.
The mammoth crowd of the Obedient Movement defied heavy downpours as they marched through the city, and led their party leaders to canvas for votes ahead of the election.
Other members of the entourage include Aisha Buhari.
