Edo guber: Okpebholo pledges commitment to infrastructure, healthcare, security

Ahead of the September 21 2024 governorship election in Edo state, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reiterated his commitment to ensuring adequate security, massive infrastructural development to advance economic development, affordable healthcare, water and food security, value-driven education, economic rejuvenation, for the enjoyment of the masses, in addition to tourism and creative industry.

The party flagbearer, who represents Edo Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, went on to say that his blueprint to govern the state is a manifesto for a renewed hope for the people of Edo.

He also pledged to give life to the Edo Diaspora Agency which will boost the participation and engagement of Edo State indigenes residents abroad.

Contained in a communique he presented at a meeting with the Edo community in Washington DC, United States of America and made available to journalists in Abuja, Okpebholo noted the role of Edo people in diaspora in the development of the various communities in the state and further, solicit their support for his election as the Governor of Edo State.

The communique in part read; “Senator Monday Okpebholo who eloquently informed us of his contributions to the development of Edo State as a citizen and as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing the good people of Edo Central Senatorial District adumbrated his manifesto which focuses on Security, Massive Infrastructural Development to advance the economic development of the state and open it up for massive foreign investments. He also listed affordable healthcare, water and food security, value-driven education, and economic rejuvenation, while not leaving behind tourism and the creative industry in his manifesto of Renewed Hope for the Edo people.

Senator Okpebholo also promised to give life to the Edo Diaspora Agency which will ensure the participation and engagement of Edo State indigenes resident abroad.

“After a careful and thorough examination of his manifesto and preparedness to deliver on his manifesto, we were satisfied that he is imbued with the necessary capacity, tenacity and humility to unite the Edo people for progress.

“At the crescendo of the kettledrum interaction, Dr Mrs Lizzy Olumese moved a motion for the endorsement of Senator Monday Okpebholo as the next Governor of Edo State. The motion which was seconded by Hon.Tony Igiehon was also put to all members of Edo Community in Washington DC who attended the Interactive Meeting, and in unison, we the under listed citizens of Edo State, residents in Washington District of Columbus, Political Capital of the United States of America, unanimously endorsed Senator Monday Okpebholo, Candidate of the All-Progressives Congress for Edo State Governorship.

“From Senator Monday Okpebholo’s record of contributions to nation building, as a private citizen and a Senator, he has done well; given the opportunity as Governor, he has proven that he can deliver good governance to all Edo People.

“While appreciating members of the delegation of Senator Monday Okpebholo, amongst whom are our brothers and friends, Pastor Andrew Osagie Ize-Iyamu Esq., Emperor Jarret Tenebe, Dr Blessing Agbomhere Esq., Hon. E. J. Agbonayinma, Chief David Adodo, Professor Guobadia, Pst Stanley Dave Ighodalo, Lincoln Ibie and Paddy Emmanuel Iyamu, by this endorsement we urge our fellow diaspora brothers and sisters in the United States of America, Britain, Canada, Europe, Caribbean, Asia, Africa and those in Nigeria and Edo State to support and vote Senator Monday Okpebholo as the Governor of Edo State.”
