The Edo State Government (EDSG) has cancelled the Environmental Sanitation Exercise, earlier scheduled to hold on Saturday, April 26th, 2025.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq, on Thursday night.

According to the statement, the cancellation was informed by the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across the state.

The statement read in part: “Further to our earlier announcements, 0dated March 15, 2025 and April 22, 2025 respectively on the reintroduced Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise in Edo State scheduled to hold on Saturday April 26, 2025, the general public is hereby informed of the cancellation of the exercise by the State Government.

“The cancellation is premised on the concerns of candidates sitting for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) which commenced on Thursday, April 24, 2025 across the country.

“Despite the cancellation, all Edo residents are encouraged to keep their immediate environments clean.

“Consequently, the reintroduced exercise will commence on the last Saturday of May, 2025 across the State between 7:00 am and 10:00 am”.

The statement maintained that the Edo State Government remains committed to ensuring a safer, healthier, and cleaner environment for the people.
