Obaseki
Apathy seems to have set in barely two weeks after Edo State Government prevented unvaccinated civil servants from offices and those yet to take COVID-19 vaccination from accessing public places.
Governor Godwin Obaseki who had earlier warned that unvaccinated persons would be denied access to banks, government offices, worship, and event centres from mid-September made good his threats on Monday, September 13 when workers and visitors to public offices without green cards were turned back at the gates.
Several visits to the sprawling State Secretariat on Sapele Road and other public offices in different parts of the Edo State capital by Tribune Online, however, showed that the law was no longer enforced.
Workers and visitors casually strolled in and out of the offices without hindrance as there were no security officials at the numerous gates while those that were present in other offices were nonchalant.
With a dismissive wave of the hand, a civil servant who refused to disclosed her name said that there is presently lax enforcement of the rule which was enforced with a lot of enthusiasm during the first week.
She lamented: “It was only in the first week that people were turned back. Those without the green vaccination cards were not allowed entry to the State Secretariat and other public offices. There’s presently lax enforcement as people now walk in and out freely without the presentation of the card.”
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Osamwonyi Irowa could not be reached but the director of Disease Control in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Bruce Osa who confirmed the development, noting that he was going to draw the attention of the authority.

The Dangers In Mixing Toilet Cleaner With Bleach
Few weeks ago, Eniola Oyemolade, a journalist, decided to get creative while cleaning, by mixing a toilet cleaner and a bleach together. She did this with the thought that if one product works, mixing it with another would make it even better.
Unknowing to her, Mixing bleach with toilet cleaner creates a poisonous gas that can cause adverse health reactions, including death.
“After the mixture, I started feeling a burning sensation in my throat and I had to leave the room because the odour was really bad too,” she said.
