Against the backdrop of what he described as the bad management of the ruling party in the state by Obaseki, Idahagbon, a former Edo state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice had declared recently that he saw reason with those who defected from the party to the PDP.
While expressing support for those leaving the party in droves for the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he said that many of them have cause to defect as the party has not been well-managed in the last two years since the emergence of Obaseki.
In a statement in Benin yesterday, Iyare said that the attack was mischievous and a calculated attempt by the Edo BSG coordinator to drag the good name of the governor to bad repute and dishonour.
The APC chieftain said that the overreaction by Idahagbon to Obaseki’s simple and clear declaration that Edo money is not for sharing was a clear testimony that he (Idahagbon) expected the governor to share the resources of the state among a few politicians.

Iyare said: “Idahagbon should note that the era of non-performance and sharing of our common resources to politicians is over and gone forever.”
He added that what is expected from the governor is the development of the critical sectors of the state, which according to him, Obaseki is presently doing to the admiration of the people.
Idahagbon had also insisted that it was very unkind for the governor to turn around and call politicians thieves, after helping him to win the 2016 governorship election.
He stated that some top members in the state have been called thieves, liars and people that liked money by the governor, adding that many Edo APC chieftains were persuaded and asked to give national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole the time and opportunity to look into issues in the state.
“This is a state where politicians have been demonized as thieves, liars and people that like money. That is not correct. The politicians worked for the current government to come into office. After working for a governor to come in, he cannot call us thieves. We are not thieves, we are not liars,” he said.
