Edo 2024: Reject APC, LP, Ighodalo tells voters

Ahead of the September 21, 2024, Governorship Election in Edo State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) Candidate, Asue Ighodalo, has appealed to the people of Igbanke in Orhionmwon Local Government Area to vote for the PDP in the forthcoming election in Edo.

Ighodalo who gave the advice during his campaign tour to Igbanke and Oza Communities in Orhionmwon Local Government Area in Edo on Wednesday called on the people to reject darkness which he claimed the Labour Party (LP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) are known for.

He maintained his candidature and that of his running mate Osarodion Ogie represents light, industrialisation, and development, assuring that he is well-equipped to bring further the dividends of good governance to the people.

The PDP guber flag bearer tasked the people to trust the party in its quest to eradicate poverty from Edo, especially as the administration of Godwin Obaseki has set in motion a developmental template in the state, hence the need for the people to reject candidates of other political parties jostling for the governorship position in Edo.

He said: “We aim to improve and better the lives of the people. This is the time to vote for the right candidate and the people who know the developmental road map not those without any road map.

“This is the time we should embrace light and reject darkness. Enough suffering in the country and the reason is that those in the position of leadership do not love the people which is why there is suffering in Nigeria.

Also addressing PDP supporters in Igbanke South and North Wards, Osarodion Ogie, the deputy governorship candidate of the party said “Our responsibility is to improve the living conditions of the people for the better”.

At Aibiokula ward one and two in Oza assured the people of industrialisation if voted as governor of the state, saying that his administration would harness the gas resources in the area for the betterment of the people.

Ighodalo opined that the election is not about violence but about the candidate with capacity and proven track record for development.

On his part, the Director-General of the PDP Campaign Council, Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, called on the people to vote massively for the party in the election, stressing that Ighodalo is poised to transform Edo into a state of El Dorado.

“There is a big difference between the PDP and the APC governments. While APC governments are known for bringing suffering and hardship to the people, PDP government is known for good and people-centric governance.

“We don’t want leaders that will loot our common patrimonies and leave us with poverty. We want to provide government that would further develop Edo State. APC government has failed the people.

“The people that will bring these needed development and progress to the people of the state are Dr Asue Ighodalo and Barr. Osarodion Ogie of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” Iduoriyekemwen posited.
