Edo 2024: PDP’s Ighodalo vows to tackle poverty if elected

Published by

Dr Asue Ighodalo, the governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2024 gubernatorial election in Edo has promised to address issues affecting the people, particularly poverty if given the mandate to govern the state.

He asserted that if harnessed properly, the natural resources that abound in Edo would help to address the issue of poverty and others in the state.

Ighodalo gave the assurance in Ubiaja, Esan Sout-East Local government area on Tuesday during his ongoing local government council tour across Edo.

The lawyer and financial expert posited that Edo State with little or no poverty is achievable if the right person is at the helm of affairs, hence, the need for people to nominate him as candidate of the PDP. In the forthcoming party primaries.

He appeared to the people for support in order for him to get the sole ticket of the PDP for the September 21, governorship election, just as he assured the people in the area of inclusive governance if elected.

Speaking to the PDP leaders and Edo Central Senatorial caucus members at Uromi, the administrative headquarters of Esan North-East local government area, the frontline aspirant, revealed that his ambition is to provide good governance for the people.

He said: “My decision to govern Edo is borne out of my desire to provide good governance not to a section of the state but an inclusive governance for the entire people of Edo, especially with my wealth of experience and capacity”.

At Igueben local government area, Ighodalo who is now referred to as ‘AI’, however, assured the people that his administration would reward hard work as well as introduce agricultural reforms that will boost farming in the area.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of PDP in Ubiaja, Hon. Lawrence and the former Commissioner for Agriculture and PDP Leader in Uromi, Prince Joe Okojie, assured the aspirant of the areas’ full support towards getting the party ticket.

On the readiness of the aspirant to govern Edo, Prince Okojie said: “From what we have seen and from the conversations we have heard, Asue Ighodalo has demonstrated that he has the capacity and he is ready both physically and mentally to be the next governor of Edo State.

“He is a man with the words of knowledge that is required for Edo State to move forward and move to the next level. We are praying that now that Governor Godwin Obaseki has taken us to the mountain top, Asue Ighodalo will take us to the promised land.

“The monmouth crowd you are seeing today (Tuesday) in Uromi is a true reflection that our people are fully with him. Those mischief makers that think his people are not with him should have a rethink as you can see the love being demonstrated towards him by the people”.

On his part, the PDP Ward 1 Leader in Igueben local government area, Barr. Anthony Ehilebo, maintained that Ighodalo is the best aspirant for the number seat in Edo, owing to the aspirant’s capacity and compassion to lead the people to El dorado.

“The capacity of Asue Ighodalo is a blessing to Edo state and Nigeria in general because we believe that the peer pressure of development that he will bring to Edo state will help other surrounding states and make them double up to be the best they can.

“This is what Dr. Asue Ighodalo brings to the table that no other aspirants on the surface of contesting for the 2024 Edo State Governorship Election has. Nobody marches his capacity,” he said.
