The Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District of Edo State at the National Assembly, Senator Monday Okpebholo, popularly known as Akpakomiza, has promised to declare a state of emergency in all sectors of Edo if elected as governor.
The senator, who is seeking to be elected governor of the state under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the pledge over the weekend when he met with executives of the party in Etsako Central, Etsako East, Etsako West, Owan, and Akoko-Edo Local Government Areas in Edo North.
He therefore appealed to the APC delegates in Edo to nominate him as the party’s flag bearer.
Senator Okpebholo addressed the crowd, outlining his vision for transformative governance that would address the pressing issues facing Edo State across various sectors.
He promised to declare a state of emergency in all sectors as a reflection of his commitment to bring about substantial and rapid changes to the state’s socio-economic landscape.
“I stand before you today with a solemn pledge to declare a state of emergency in all sectors of Edo State if I am elected as your governor. We cannot afford to maintain the status quo when our people are yearning for progress and development. It’s time for bold and decisive actions,” declared Senator Okpebholo.
He emphasised that the state of emergency would encompass key areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, security, agriculture, and job creation. He stressed the urgency of addressing these issues, citing the need for immediate intervention to uplift the lives of Edo residents.
Senator Okpebholo, highlighting his experience and dedication to public service, asserted that he possessed the leadership qualities required to steer Edo State towards prosperity and called on the delegates to nominate him as the party flag bearer.
