Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi

GOVERNOR Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has urged Nigerians to shun divisive tendencies but rather be committed to peaceful coexistence in the country.

Ajimobi made this appeal in his commemorative message on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitri celebration.

The message released on Ajimobi’s behalf by his Special Adviser, Communication and Strategy, Mr Bolaji Tunji, specifically charged Muslims to be their brothers’ keeper and be irresolute to the service of humanity.

He further charged Muslims to uphold the spiritual rejuvenation of the Ramadan period and not return to sinful habits.

“Since Ramadan fasting symbolises spiritual rejuvenation, it is expected that our Muslim brothers and sisters will continue to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammed. Part of this is to be our brother’s keepers and ensure service to humanity.

“Besides, it is important for us to move closer to Allah, even after the Eid-el-Fitri celebrations and eschew things that are against His will and commandment. We should not be tempted to go back to sinful habits.”

“Leaders in all the tiers of government also deserve to be assisted with prayers so that they can lead us aright and move the country forward in all ramifications,” Ajimobi said.

Similarly, Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Olagunju Ojo has urged Muslims to uphold the lessons of Ramadan which includes virtues of piety, sacrifice, love, self-denial and good conduct in their daily relationship with one another.

Furthermore, he enjoined Nigerians not to abandon the messages of the Ramadan period by extending a hand of friendship and solidarity across all divides and imbibing the spirit of sacrifice as well as obedience to the higher authorities.

While congratulating Muslims in Oyo state for the successful completion of the spiritual journey of fasting, prayer and almsgiving, he prayed that Allah rewards their sacrifices with blessings.

He further called on Muslims to pray for Oyo state, especially, those in leadership positions, that God grants them the needed wisdom to efficiently steer the affairs of the state and the country, at large.
