Against present cry of economic hardship among Nigerians, the deputy governor of Oyo state, Chief Moses Adeyemo, has said that situation of Nigeria would have been worse if not for emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

Speaking at the 2017 annual general conference of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification church of Nigeria at Galilee land, Ilorin-Ibadan expressway on Thursday, Chief Adeyemo said that damages already caused by corruption and mismanagement of nation’s resources by past leaders was alarming.

The deputy governor, who expressed optimism that fortune of Nigeria would change for better, called for patience and understanding among people, saying that most nations of the world experienced economic recession at a point of their existence.

“We say things are hard now, but it could have been worse if not for emergence of president Buhari in 2015. The high level of corruption and damage caused by mismanagement by past leaders was alarming. The situation calls for patience, cooperation and support among the people for government at all levels. There’s no nation which has not experienced recession at one point in its history. Let’s pray it doesn’t get to depression”, he said.

Chief Adeyemo, who called for unity among Christians in the country irrespective of their sects or denominations, said that Christians are one and Jesus Christ is the head of the church.

He said that Nigerians are among leading people in the world who worship God, adding that they should match their worship with Godly attitude by shunning vices to make the world a better place.

Also speaking, the supreme head (olori) of the c&s unification church of Nigeria, Dr. Solomon Alao, said that fight against corruption would be won permanently when pensionable benefits were paid promptly and when employees were assured of regular and prompt payment in retirement.

The cleric said that temptation by public officers to employ corrupt means to take care of post retirement years would be less when such measures were employed.

Dr. Alao also said that government at all levels should hands off religious affairs, adding that money spent on pilgrims sponsorship should be channeled to other mass-oriented ventures.

He also said that all other states of the federation should join Lagos state and others to approve death penalty for anyone found guilty of kidnapping in the country.
