The 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, has empowered the Isuachara community with the sum of N150 million to boost food production amid the prevailing economic hardship in the country.
The business mogul made the announcement during the Isuachara Day celebration and grand reception held in his honour at Isuachara Primary School, Anioma Isu, in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
According to Odii, three beneficiaries would be selected from each of the five kindreds that make up Isuachara for modern agricultural training. He pledged to support the fifteen selected participants with N3 million each after completing their training.
In addition to the empowerment initiative, Odii supported the community’s N300 million town hall project with a donation of N20 million, promising to contribute more if the funds are used judiciously.
The philanthropist also donated N20 million to the event’s organising committee, along with undisclosed financial contributions to several other groups.
“Our community is known for its rich in production of rice, yam, cassava and vegetable foods, and that made our community people agrarian and that is why I am supporting them,” he stated.
He explained further that, “The agricultural empowerment will involve three persons each from the five kindred, making 15 beneficiaries. The beneficiaries will go into training in modern farming, and after which, I will give them N3 million each to start up agricultural business.”

Odii, who was conferred with the chieftaincy title “Omeziriobodo 1 of Isuachara” alongside six other distinguished sons of the community, stated that the agricultural empowerment initiative would become an annual programme rotating among members of the community.
Mr Emmanuel Ogudu, National Chairman of the Isuachara Development Union, said the grand reception and chieftaincy honour were in recognition of Odii’s meritorious service to humanity. He commended Odii’s contributions and expressed hope that the annual celebration would foster greater unity among the people of Isuachara.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion, Prof Ogbonna Ogbu—who was also among the chieftaincy award recipients—expressed appreciation for the 2025 celebration of Isuachara Day.
