EBONYI state government has placed indefinite suspension to all board members of pipe production company over the vandalisation of pipeline machines generating electricity in the area.
According to the state Head of service Dr Chamberlain Nwele, while disclosing the decision of the Executive Council to newsmen in Abakaliki, stated that the council has also ordered the sack of all the ad-hoc staff of the company while due process takes its course to ensure that disciplinary action is taken against the civil servants working also in the company.
“Council decided that board members of the pipe production company be placed on indefinite suspension without salary and will not have access to the company account.
“This is the second time vandalisation is taking place in that place and the government spent a lot to replace the items that were removed.
“The Council directed that all the ad-hoc staff of the company should be relieved of their services, they should be dismissed. And all civil servants working there, due process will be followed to ensure that disciplinary action is taken against them,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Kenneth Ugbala, Senior Special Assistant to Governor David Umahi on security also disclosed that all the security personnel attached to the company has been arrested for proper prosecution by the rule of law.
“On the position of our pipe production company in Ebonyi State that was cannibalised. It was deliberated by the council and recalled that on June 26, 2018, the council received a security information that the pipeline machines generating electricity for the company was vandalised. The men that were on duty that day were from the Nigeria Police.
“It is incredible that the men will be on duty and the machines were cannibalized. The council deliberated today and gave the directive that the Nigeria police should immediately prosecute the police personnel that were on duty the day these machines were cannibalized.
“They have arrested that particular day on my supervision as security adviser to the governor Council directed my office together with that of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice to follow it to a dead end and make sure that the law takes it to effect on them.”
