Ebonyi govt approves N520m for Ekumenyi boulevard, trader centre’s redesign, others

Ebonyi State has approved the release of Five Hundred and Twenty Million Naira (520,000000) only for  Nnodo Ekumenyi Boulevard and the abandoned Trade Centre.
The commissioner for Information and State Orientation Jude Okpor disclosed while briefing Journalists on the outcome of Wednesday State Executive Council Meeting.
According to the commissioner, (450 000,000.00) Four Hundred and Fifty Million Naira, was  approved, for the design and consultancy services Nnodo Ekumenyi Boulevard while (70,000,000.00) Seventy Million Naira for the redesign and consultancy services for the Trade Centre.
” Nnodo Ekumenyi Boulevard:
Following earlier approval of the design for the Nnodo Ekumenyi  Boulevard, the Council approved the sum of Four Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (N450,000,000) only for both the design and consultancy services.
“In a related development, the sum of Seventy Million Naira (N70,000,000) for the redesign of the Trade Centre was also approved for release by the council. This sum also covers consultancy services for the project.”
The Commissioner also noted that the State council has ordered the ministry of lands to write a one month notice to the illegal occupants in the State government land to demolish and vacate the government land .
“Arising from the unwanted trespass of government land at Aguognoriga Layout, EXCO directed the Honourable Commissioner for Lands to notify illegal occupants of the said Layout in writing to demolish and vacate within one month, failure of which Government will proceed with the demolition. This is aimed at returning the Layout to its original plan”.
Okpor, also noted that the government has also approved the fencing of the University of Aeronautic Engineering, Ezza In an effort to avoid unnecessary encroachment in the University.
” Aeronautic Engineering, Ezza, the Council approved perimeter fencing of the university’s land. The Council also directed the State Council for Public Procurement to advertise the jobs to interested bidders”.
On Empowerment, the commissioner said “Sequel to a joint memo by the Honourable Commissioners for Human Capital Development, Commerce and Industry, and Agriculture and Natural Resources, EXCO resolved and approved the following:  Two Billion, Six Hundred and Twenty Million Naira (N2,620,000,000) for Ebonyi State Community and Social Development Agency (EBCSDA) to embark on social development projects in 100 communities that are yet to benefit from the Agency’s intervention across the state. The Agency was also mandated to pay the Labour-Intensive workers across the 13 LGAS.
“N500 million naira to Ebonyi State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (EBSMEDA) for the Empowerment of 10,000 Ebonyians.
“N2.12B approved for Empowerment of farmers through FADAMA and other projects, to boost agricultural production in the state, especially in this farming season.
All these approvals are in line with the People’s Charter of Needs manifesto of His Excellency, the Governor.” He said
