Ebonyi college of nursing and midwifery inducts 50 students

Governor David Umahi has advised  Ebonyi state college of Nursing and Midwifery students to use their opportunity in school to be a very competitive individual globally.
He gave the admonition to the students during their maiden matriculation were fifty students who distinguished themselves in the six-month training of the profession popularly known as preliminary text section (PTS) were caped and inducted in the school premises at Uburu Ohaozara Local government area of the state.
According to Umahi who admonished the students to see their education as an opportunity to excel, make their parents proud also urged them not to allow the light to extinct in their hands by working hard to keep the flag of the noble profession flying.
The governor represented at the occasion by the South-East Zonal chairman of PDP, Chief Austin Umahi further charged the students to follow the footprints of Florence Nightingale who is globally recognized for her love and passion towards the Nursing profession.
He enjoined the school provost to ensure qualitative, administrative skills at work in the college even as he appealed to the parents to support the students by providing their school fees in time to enable all the matriculated student graduate in all index.
In his own part, the commissioner for health, Dr Daniel umezuruike extol Governor Umahi’s doggedness for the actualisation of the gigantic project which according to him, started  since1992  in old Abia State, which became one of the projects inherited as fixed assets by Ebonyi from Abia State.
The commissioner called on the students to focus on their studies and shun all social vices such as exam malpractice, prostitution and cultism among others.
In an address presented by the acting Provost of the college, Lady Ezinne Aja noted that the college has been granted full accreditation by Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria in November Last year, 2018.
She further disclosed that the state government has equipped the school with the needed textbooks, equipment for easy learning, furnished the tutor’s office with uninterrupted power and water supply, procured Hilux van for the provost and Coastal bus for students, all for smooth and easy running of the school.
She, however, highlights some of their problems to includes, lack of manpower, Male Hostel, and more structures to accommodate laboratories, information communication Technology ICT and Nursing Demonstration (practical) room
