Ebonyi bans sale of adulterated kerosene

FOLLOWING the explosion of adulterated kerosene in Ezza south local government area of Ebonyi State, which a life was lost, the State Government has banned totally the sale of adulterated kerosene in the state.

It placed the ban when sympathising with the family that lost their dear ones following the explosion.

Governor Umahi also banned in totality the sale of tramadol, codeine-containing products and the sale of antibiotics and analgesic over the counter by pharmaceutical shops without doctor’s prescription.

However, Ebonyi State government regretted that during screening of potential youths by the police, army and paramilitary recruitment, a lot of them were found to be positive of hypertietis B surface antigens, especially among the youths of the population at risk.

“Henceforth, it is part of the resolution that the department in charge of petroleum and the SA on petroleum matters in liaison with the security operatives and the dealers on petroleum, there should be a total ban on adulterated kerosene and kerosene products in the state.

On the 26th of last month, was the United Nations Day on drugs and Drug trafficking. There is now in Ebonyi State a committee on fake drugs, unwholesome food products, and a substandard medical and health services in the State.

This task force is seriously working with the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency and other groups in the state in partnership with the Nigeria pharmaceutical society, throughout the local government and alternative medicine providers.

This task force shall drive this conception. We are appealing to vendors, the pharmacy shops owners and all the vendors of health products because to be done warned is to before harm.

“Henceforth, there is a ban on tramadol. We are aware there is increase in crime and there is no crime that is not associated with substance abuse.
