Easter virtues can improve Nigeria ―NOA

In the spirit of the 2018 Easter celebration, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has tasked Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of selflessness and sacrifice towards a better Nigeria.

Director General of NOA, Dr Garba Abari, in an Easter message to Nigerians described the sacrificial life and death of Jesus Christ as constant reminders of how humans ought to put others first before self, adding that if all Nigerians lived this way, most of the conflicts witnessed in the nation’s recent history would have been avoided.

Abari urged Nigerians, irrespective of religious persuasions, to use the occasion of Easter for sober reflections on how we can be more accommodating of other people’s views, cultures and preferences so as to build a nation devoid of recurrent tensions and acrimony.

He said it was clear that one sure way to show patriotism is to love your compatriots as yourself, according to the teachings of Jesus, hence the Agency’s “Sharing the Green Grass” initiative aimed at encouraging herders and farmers to live in peace and tolerate each other.

While felicitating with the Christian faithful over the completion of the Lenten season, the NOA Director General prayed for a happy Easter celebration and a more peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
