Easter: Pray for Nigeria’s socio-economic, security challenges, Omisore urges Nigerians

AS Christians in nation celebrate this year’s Easter season, deputy governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, on Friday implored Nigerians, irrespective of religious affiliations to pray for God’s intervention in the country’s socio-economic, security and political challenges.

In an Easter message made available to newsmen, he congratulated Nigerians particularly the Christians on the successful completion of this year’s lengthen period and the Easter celebrations.

Omisore, who is the former chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, urged “Nigerians irrespective of their religion to commit Nigeria into the hands of God as the country is presently facing political, security, economic and other challenges”.

According to him, “Christians across Nigeria should use the opportunity of the just concluded 40 days fasting to seek for divine intervention for this country on the tasks and challenges militating against the unity, stability growth and development of Nigeria as a country”.

“I am using this period to felicitate with the Christians across Nigeria and the good people of Osun state on this year’s Easter Celebrations. I am imploring our people to learn enough lessons from what the Easter celebrations stand for which among others are perseverance, love for others and humility as clearly demonstrated by Jesus Christ even while he was being nailed onto the cross,” Omisore remarked.

While specifically charged the Christians, and other stakeholders in and across Osun state not to relent on their prayers concerning the September 22 governorship election in the state, he stated, “there is no doubt that we need free, fair and generally acceptable governorship election in Osun state come September this year.

“Let me again reiterated that another governorship election in Osun state is around the corner, a time to determine the destiny of our dear state for the four years and beyond. It is now time for the people of Osun state to decide and decide well with their votes. Osun state must move forward. It is now time to pray to God to lead us aright in September, this year governorship election.”

“The Christians and Nigerians, in general, should be law abiding and steer clear of issues capable of truncating peace in their communities during and after the Easter festivities. It is only when there is a peace that there can be development”, Omisore concluded.
