Easter: NOA urges sacrificial life for better Nigeria

As Christians in Nigeria celebrate Easter to mark the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has tasked Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of selflessness and sacrifice espoused by Christ for a better Nigeria.
Director General of NOA, Dr Garba Abari, in an Easter message to Nigerians described the sacrificial life and death of Jesus Christ as constant reminders of how humans ought to put others first before self, adding that if all Nigerians lived this way, most conflicts and criminality would be prevented.
Abari urged Nigerians, irrespective of religious persuasions, to use the occasion of Easter for sober reflections on how they can add value to the lives of our neighbours and be more accommodating.
In his words, “One sure way to show patriotism is to love your compatriots as yourself, according to the teachings of Jesus. Let us continue to put the love of others above self because that will crush the appetite for crimes, abuses and corruption which are fuelled by self-centeredness in our society”.
While congratulating the Christian faithful for the completion of the Lenten season, the NOA Director-General assured Nigerians that government has stepped up security measures to ensure their safety during and after the Easter period and prayed for a happy celebration and a more prosperous Nigeria.
