Easter: Brazillian descendants to host ‘going back to our roots’ concert in Lagos

Brazillian Descendants Arts and Culture Association (Popo Aguda, Lagos) is set to organise its first Popo Aguda Easter Musical and Drama Concert tagged: Going Back to our Roots, on Easter Monday.

The convener, Bolaji Mendes, made this known to newsmen at a briefing held at the Yoruba Tennis Club in Lagos.

“The importance of music cannot be overemphasized culture as a universal language because it feeds the soul by appealing to the real inner self giving the type of joy and satisfaction that virtually nothing else can do.

“It is our desire to give back joy, relaxation, comradeship and self-fulfillment to the historical community we love so much.

He added that great musicians, who are related to the origin cutting across different age brackets such as veteran Jimi Solanke, contemporary Yinka Alakija and Prime Qwest Band, Gboyega Adelaja and Jesse Buga will be featured.

Mendes also said that Lagos and Brazillian Cultures will be presented by bringing in the Lagos State University (LASU) Drama Group, Eko Samba Group, and the exclusive Popo Aguda Meboi Group (The Bull) in order to do justice to the drama and cultural aspect of Lagos state and Popo Aguda Community.
