The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Zone One Headquarters, Kano, AIG Ahmed Ammani, has mandated the Commissioners of Police in Kano and Jigawa States to implement robust security measures to ensure the safety of residents before, during, and after the Easter celebrations.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Bashir Muhammad, a copy of which was made available to the press in Kano on Saturday.
The statement noted that the AIG assured members of the public, particularly residents of Kano and Jigawa States, that adequate security arrangements have been put in place to safeguard lives and property throughout the festive period.
In addition to the directives given to the two Commissioners, AIG Ammani also ordered intensified intelligence gathering across the zone.
According to him, “The intelligence units have been tasked with generating actionable intelligence to proactively address and neutralise any potential threats.”
However, while extending his warm wishes to Christian faithful on the occasion of Good Friday and Easter, the AIG urged them to use the season as an opportunity to pray for continued peace and unity within the zone and the country at large.
