Dutse emirate disburses N243m zakat

THE Dutse Emirate Council has disbursed farm produce worth N243 million as zakat.

Speaking while flagging off the zakat distribution, the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi, commended the farmers and wealthy people in the emirate for their piety and compassion in giving out the zakat through the emirate.

Alhaji Sanusi urged imams in the emirate to enlighten the public on the importance of the institution of zakat in Islam.

The farm produce collected as zakat include millet (252 bags), guinea corn (1,201 bags), groundnuts (369 bags), beans (16 bags), rice (2,193 bags), maize (70 bags) and sesame (20 bags).

One hundred and twenty-two bags of rice and two bags of guinea corn were given out as zakat by the emir himself.

In a remark, the Sa’in Dutse, Dr Mahmud Yunusa, said there was considerable improvement in the collection of zakat in the emirate this year.
