Following his passion for promoting the rich culture of Yorubaland as well as fostering his father’s legacy beyond the shores of the country, Ambassador Wole Akanni Duro-ladipo, is set to be rewarded with an excellence and recommendation award by the Black Heritage Awards (BHA).
This development came through a nomination of an excellence award by the brains behind the award tagged, “2024 Mahogany Black Heritage/Black History AWARDS”, Ambassador Mary Swopes.
Duro-Ladipo, who was nominated for the Black Heritage Cultural Awards, will be celebrated among other personalities at the award ceremony billed to be held at the Chicago History Museum, on March 24.
The son of the renowned poetic dramatist is also optimistic about connecting the world with his forthcoming 2024 Yoruba Cultural Exchange Festival.
The 15th anniversary of the much-anticipated festival billed to be held later this year, at Malcolm X College Auditorium in Chicago, September 3 to 7, would attack hundreds of diplomats and practitioners promoting culture across borders.
The festival, which will be organised by First Eye Concept later this year will feature a cultural fashion show, cultural dance, educational session, tourism business forum, gala/awards, a taste of African food, and cultural drum extravaganza, among others.
According to Duro-Ladipo, the annual event has over the years celebrated personalities that preserve the rich culture of Yorubaland beyond the shores of the country, just as he hinted that this year’s event would be exceptional as it will feature various Yoruba cultural values through lifestyle and music.
