Why we dumped SDP for PDP —Momoh

Published by

A leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Edo State and former National Assembly member representing Etsako federal constituency, Honourable Abubakar Momoh, has said, along with some others, he would  move the structure of SDP in the Edo North district for the gubernatorial aspiration of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

This, he said, was because of their conviction that Edo would fare better under Ize-Iyamu’s leadership.

Momoh said he had faith in the PDP, under which platform he served two terms in the state House of Assembly, and in Ize-Iyamu, who he said he had known since 1987.

Momoh spoke at a campaign rally in Auchi, on Wednesday, where he led hundreds of SDP leaders and members to resign en masse from the party and join the PDP.

“We decided to join the PDP because it has a candidate that will help Edo get out of where it is today. He is a person I believe will help move Edo forward,” he said.

Accepting the new entrants into the party, Edo State chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, assured them of equal status with old members, charging them to go back home with the message from Momoh that they must all work to make Ize-Iyamu governor.
