The former Minister for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs who stated this during his visit to Akure, Ondo State capital, noted that the blockage of the National Assembly by the operatives of the DSS on Tuesday, could not have single-handedly carried out by Duara alone, without an order from certain quarters.
Tanimu-Turaki said “The event of Tuesday is a serious threat to democracy in this country. If our democratic institution like the National Assembly could be desecrated in the way and manner that some DSS operatives did, I believe very strongly that it is not enough for the Federal Government to remove the head of the security agency.
“It is important that everybody that has a hand in what happened yesterday (Tuesday) must be arrested and prosecuted. Let example be made out of them. You must know that where you decide to follow illegal and unconstitutional instructions, then you pay for it. This is what is being done in most of the decent and civilised countries and Nigeria should not be an exception.
Speaking on the plans of the PDP to harmonise its aspirants ahead of the 2019 general election, the former minister said all the Presidential aspirants of the party were already meeting in a bid to produce a candidate ahead of the Presidential primary of the party.
He expressed optimism that the party’s candidate would be produced without any rancour and assured that the selection of the party’s Presidential candidate would not cause any crisis in the party.

According to him, the party was determined to win the next general election and oust the present administration of the All Progressives Congress.
He maintained that the forthcoming 2019 Presidential election was not about individual or PDP but it should be seen as a mission to rescue the Nigeria nation from the APC-led government, saying that was why all the PDP aspirants agreed to support anybody that eventually emerged as the candidate of the party.
He said, “Nigeria needs a person with good character, integrity, good health and fear of God. All the aspirants of the PDP are eminently qualified to get the ticket of the party.
“I want to say that any one of us that get the ticket of the party will perform better than what the APC is doing to our country now. We have met and discussed with one another that we will support anyone that gets the ticket.
“The matter is not about us or the PDP but it is about the people of this country. People are being killed every day and nothing is being done about it, our economy is nothing to write home about, the APC is moving the country backwards.
“We are prepared to wrestle the power from the APC and we need the support of the party members and the people of Nigeria.
“The situation of the country is very serious and we must come together to fight it out. We have learnt lessons in the PDP. The APC is jittery because people are leaving them, they are scared because other opposition parties have decided to team up with the PDP to take over the power. “
