A tragic incident occurred in Lagos on Friday morning, resulting in the loss of four soldiers and injuring several others.
The soldiers, attached to Myoung Barracks in the Morocco area of Shomolu, were on their routine monthly road jog when a suspected drunk driver rammed into them.
Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle, which was occupied by three young men suspected to be internet fraudsters, collided with the soldiers, causing instant fatalities and injuries.
The occupants of the vehicle were reportedly intoxicated at the time of the incident.
An angry mob apprehended two of the occupants, who were subsequently beaten, while the third occupant fled the scene. The vehicle was also vandalised.
The incident has thrown the military community into panic, and an investigation is likely to be launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
