DPR seals nine filling stations in Sokoto

Published by

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), has closed down not less than nine filling stations in different parts of Sokoto State.

The nine affected filling stations were detected out of the total number of sixty-five covered during the exercise across the state.

Speaking while addressing journalists at the end of the exercise, the Operation Controller, Sokoto field office of the agency, Muhammad Makera, highlighted the different offences committed by the affected filling stations.

According to him, six of the affected filling stations were sealed due to under-delivery of their products to customers, while the remaining three were sealed due to non-availability of safety device within the filling stations.

Makera, however, commended the Federal Government for putting up adequate measures to tackle the case of fuel scarcity during the festive period.

He disclosed that the directive of stopping fuel supply to anywhere within the range of 20km to the border is fully effective.

He said, “I can tell you categorically that we have hundred per cent compliance with that directive here.

“You can go to any border town in Sokoto or Kebbi State now, nowhere in those places that you will see any filling stations selling fuel, no fuel in the border town at all.”

He also assured the general public that the agency is living up to its responsibilities in maintaining compliance on the location of the gas plant in the state.
