The Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide (YCYW) has urged governments at all levels not to toy with the provision of free and functional education as propagated by Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

This is just as the group called for a united Yoruba front, through the setting up of the Southwest Peace Commission, to resolve intra and inter ethnic issues facing the Yoruba nation.

The Yoruba youths group, headed by Mr Hassan Oladotun, made these calls during its conference tagged, “Yoruba: ni bo L’anlo?”, held in Ibadan.

Among other calls, YCYW urged governments to implement aggressive and emergency plan of action on economic revolution of Agriculture, Education, Health in the South West, as in the days of Chief Awolowo.

Hassan also advocated the repeal of the 1999 Constitution to pave the way for a new constitution for the country.

One of the guest speakers, Professor Sabitu Olagoke prayed for unity and functional education to resolve  internal strife within the South West and the country at large.

He admonished the Yoruba race to oppose injustice, uphold the rule of law and hold politicians accountable.

A legal practitioner, Mr Femi Aborishade, urged governments at all levels not to be concerned about attaining political positions but should push for free and qualitative education, affordable healthcare and welfare of the people.

The event also saw the inauguration of the Oyo State chapter of YCYW led by Mr Omiyale Ademola.

Other members of the executive council include Adedeji Adeoti, Adeniji Sheriff, Oyebisi Abdul-lateef, Osuolale Opeyemi, Tajudeen Fatai and Ogunjinmi Monsuru.
