Don’t allow Daura’s alleged crimes to be swept under carpet, ex-Ohanaeze chieftain tells FG

THE Former chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Anambra state chapter, Elder Chris Oseloka Eluemunoh has urged the federal government not to allow all the allegations being levied against the former Director-General of Department of State Services, DSS, Lawal Daura.to be swept under the carpet.

He specifically called for a discreet investigation into the speculations making the round that a huge sum of money and a large chunk of Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs were found in his possession, shortly after he was sacked by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Eluemunoh who spoke at his hometown, Nkwelle-Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra state, during their new yam festival, noted that after the investigation, if it turned out to be true that Daura was possessing those PVCs unlawfully and could not give an accurate account of who owned them and how he came about them, he should be prosecuted according to the electoral law.

He expressed disappointment that such a high calibre of person like Daura could be found in possession of PVCs which is a clear offence as contained in our electoral law and yet nothing has been done about it since then.

On the political, economic and religious problems plaguing the nation, Elder Eluemunoh declared: “if the executive arm of government does not perform well, the national assembly cannot perform well because the to arms of government are expected to work together to produce better result but whereby both arms disagree, then the nation will not move smoothly.”

He called for free and fair elections from the ruling party as according to him, anything short of that would not be tolerated by Nigerians and the international community.
