The various adjectives used to qualify politicians in Nigeria make it look like they are all worthy of respect and are to be revered. But in my own assessment, those that are qualified for such adjectives and appellations are those that are really the choice of the people and those that have the interest of the people at heart.
People that will be revered must not emerge in the primaries through fraudulent means or by rigging or through godfatherism; they must be people of integrity who did not rig nor terrorise opponents during elections. They must not be ballot box snatchers that will go and fill boxes with their votes alone secretly in connivance with other stakeholders and must not emerge by colluding with INEC to falsify results.
At all levels of election petition, they must not obtain judgment by the powers that be or by monetary inducement. They should not be involved in anything that leads to shedding human blood or use thugs to disrupt election petitions in the court. It is those that are not involved in of all these evil acts that deserve honour. Do our politicians have these qualities?
