An Ado-Ekiti Customary Court in Ekiti State has dissolved the 25-year-old marriage between Catherine Bello and her herbalist husband, Sule Bello, over of frequent fighting and threat to life.

The court president, Mrs Olayinka Akomolede, ruled that since Sule had shunned the court and vowed never to appear, she had no choice but to dissolve their union.

“Since the respondent has behaved in such a manner, the petitioner cannot reasonably be expected to continue living with him.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Catherine told the court that she has three children for her estranged husband.

“My husband is an herbalist and I fear that he will make good his threat to waste my life. My husband has been trailing me since I left his house.

“I pray this court to save me from my husband. I do not want to have anything to do with him anymore,” she pleaded.

Sule, the estranged husband, failed to appear in court.
