Disregard sponsored protest against Tunji-Ojo’s ministerial nomination, NANS tells Senators

The Nations Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has appealed to the Senate to disregard what it described as a sponsored protest against the nomination of Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Ojo, from Ondo State has been nominated as a minister by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

NANS explained that its attention has been drawn to the nefarious plans by some political jobbers to stage a sponsored protest against the candidature of Ojo.

NANS National Vice-President (External Affairs), Comrade Babatunde Afeez Akinteye, insisted that the protest is a funded by enemies of the nominee.

Akinteye, in a statement made available to journalists on Monday, urged the leadership of the Senate, to disregard any form of sponsored protest to bring the nomination of Ojo into disrepute.

According to him: “I want to categorically say that according to our findings, that these disillusioned naysayers are nothing but enemies of progress and enemies of the people of Ondo State who are political opportunists whose only source of livelihood revolves around lies, people’s discomfort and deprivation of the masses.

“Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, apart from being a politician, he’s also an entrepreneur and a philanthropist, who has touched several lives with his generosity. He is a member of the House of Representatives who has represented Akoko North East/Akoko North West Federal Constituency of Ondo State honestly and judiciously over the last four years. During his first term in the 9th assembly, he was not just a member of the House but also the Chairman of the House Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

“Due to the undeniable love of the people of his constituency for his person and disposition, he was massively voted for and reelected on the same platform of the All People’s Congress (APC) to represent them.

“His achievements in his first four(4) years cannot be compared to that of any of his peers in any constituency in Nigeria. Anyone can go and check the facts. It’s all over the place in his consistency and even beyond.

“Considering the wide acceptability of the person and personality of Hon. Bunmi Ojo by the good people of Ondo State, they are beginning to see beyond the ministerial nomination but looking beyond and are scared of the political hurricane that would befall them as the losers and looters that they are.

“They are so scared that this general acceptability of BTO may culminate in his political dominance of the Ondo State political atmosphere, seeing conspicuously that BTO is a leader that all and sundry would love to follow and listen to any day anytime.

“Before long, if these political riffraff refuse to desist from their ever-failing intentions of denting the image of Hon. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, they shall be shamefully exposed and disgraced”.
