Disobedience to God, cause of nation’s challenges —Pastor Akande

Published by

SENIOR Pastor Nathaniel Oluwasegun Akande of Sanctuary of Praise Ministries, Ojota, Lagos, has attributed disobedience to God as the reason crimes such insurgency, abduction, robbery attacks continue to gain ground.

He stated this at the 21-day fasting and prayer of the church, stating that disobedience was the reason Nigeria was confronted with challenges.

He said: “Love of money has always been the root of all evil, just as it is stated in the Holy Scripture,” and advised people to be contented with what they have.

“The value of monetary possessions, hinged on materialism, has contributed to the greed for money. Leaders and followers should shun materialism; contribute to the society; add value to people’s lives; promote people’s well-being, and not engage in killing, arson, abduction and other forms of evil.

“Holier-than-thou attitudes have also contributed to the factors aiding insurgency, especially when certain religious affiliations claim superiority to others,” he stated.

Commenting on activities of killer herdsmen, he accused the Federal Government of not being sincere towards addressing the issue, stating that: “The Federal Government should work towards ensuring the corporate existence of the nation. The idea of men encroaching on people’s lands, or creating cattle colonies should be discouraged by the government at all levels. These are private businesses and should be treated as such. Those found culpable of such violent acts should be brought to justice.”
