A 19-year-old dismissed security guard, Sunday Oyebisi, on Monday in Lagos appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing plastic bags worth N52,000.
The police charged Oyebisi, who resides at Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, with three counts of breach of peace, burglary and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Emmanuel Ajayi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 19 at Abule-Egba, Lagos.

He alleged that the defendant, who conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace, broke into the company’s warehouse and stole goods belonging to Ultimate Poly Venture.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 168, 287 and 309 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that section 287 carries three years imprisonment for stealing while section 309 attracts seven years for burglary for convicted offenders.
Magistrate O.O. Fagbohun admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum as part of the bail condition.
Fagbohun ordered that the surety should be gainfully employed and must show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case until Oct. 18.
