Disability is not an end of life —Prophet Idris Taiwo

Published by

Prophet Idris Taiwo, The founder CHRIST REJOICING AND MIRACLE MINISTRY, MOWE, OGUN STATE, who was born cripple. In this interview with OLAIDE SOKOYA, he sheds light on number of issues concerning his life and the ministry. Excerpts.

Your background?

I am from Ode-deyo, Ijebu, Ogun State. I was born a cripple and I am from a very poor background and started life like all other children in the community.

Coping with other children of your age while growing up?

Naturally, the issue of stigmatisation cannot be ruled out. I confronted myself and tried to mix with my play group, though the deficiency did not allow me to be active like them. For example, I love football a lot but where are the legs to play the ball?

How far did you go in academic pursuit?

I tried my best at least to the secondary school level, but like I told you earlier because  my disability I decided to look elsewhere for livelihood.

What are the challenges you encounter in the course of trying to achieve a better living?

When I could not proceed further in my academic pursuit I tried my hands on some menial jobs, because I had vowed that I will never beg. But, all the efforts did not yield positive results; it got to a stage that I could not afford to buy cloth ever food.

How did you come into ministration?

I had a vision to serve God in his vine yard, but as do it I came in contact with one Pastor Odejimi, who encouraged me with the little he had and till today, he remain my mentor.

How do you start God’s work?

Naturally, I am a very good singer.  God also endowed me with prophecy. I started the prophetic job in 1997 at Ojota we started in a classroom at Victory home school with the help of good people like Pastor Odejimi.

What about your music ministration?

I have done two records: Baba mi o gba nosense and Peace in Nigeria. The records are doing well in the music market.

God has expanded his ministry by giving us a big land at Mowe, where we built an edifice for God’s work.

The nation is battling with the monster called corruption how far has it affect the church?

Corruption is everywhere. In fact it is greatly affecting the church because of dishonesty and nontransparency among church workers, I pray often for this nation not to “fall” due to corrupt people. My heart aches when I read about people stocking billions of nairas and millions of dollars in their houses while most people cannot afford a meal a day. It is as that bad, our leaders needs to have the fear of God. The kind of leaders we have are greedy people, but we will continue to preach the gospel and I strongly believe that God will touch their heart one day and everything will be okay.

What about the moral decay in our society?

Civilisation has caused us much harm to the extent that our younger ones have been the white-man mentality. It is. disguisting and uncultured to see an African dressing half nude but as prophets, we will always do our bestto guide and advise our youths against such moral deficiencies.

How has your disability affects your ministration?

It has not affected me negatively in any way. Instead, it has affected me positively, because I don’t see myself as a disable and I abhor begging in to make  as every person has a talent he can tap progress.

What is your advice to the physically challenged?

My advice to them is to be dedicated to their chosen careers and to see their condition as a blessing. They should desist from begging; they should use their talents to make the nation better.
