Dickson said this in Yenagoa on Friday night at the 2018 Regimental Dinner Night of the Mobility Command, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in the State.
It recalls that Bayelsa government on Jan. 29 disclosed that it has acquired no fewer than 100 patrol vehicles and 16 gunboats from 2012–2018 to support the fight against insecurity. The Governor, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Security Matter, Dr Boma Sparo-Jack, said the support was necessary for the efforts to clamp down on crimes.
According to Dickson, with the support and the level of professionalism among the personnel, security of lives and property could be fully assured. “But let me commend the officers and men on what they have been doing, I must say, with them, security of lives in Bayelsa have been quite remarkable. “I have seen officers, who are committed to professionalism and have taken their national assignment very seriously; I commend them so far, on their activities in the creek and the streets of Yenagoa,” he said.
Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Bayelsa Mobility Command, AVM Stephen Onuh, said that the dinner was organised as part NAF activities aimed at strengthening the bond for professionalism. “Regimental night is usually organised to let the officers know that they belong to a group that things are done in a particular way.
“The night is about professionalism and it has become part of our activities; when we get our professionalism right, we put our security apparatus in place to be able to work towards national security. “Yes, carrying out the regimental night, in the process, we teach and make the young men know that there is a lot to be gained in the service through activities, which include the dinner night,” he said.
The AOC, however, promised that the personnel, especially the ones in the command were readily available to work with the state government in safeguarding lives and properties.
