Nigeria, diaspora connect vital tool for cultural exchange — Adelegan

A programme management expert, Aderinsola Adelegan, has highlighted reasons why black people all over the world must reconnect with their roots.

Adelegan, who is the founder of RealAfro Unity, a platform designed to connect Africans in the diaspora with their cultural roots while providing opportunities for personal and professional growth, said:

“Reconnecting with our roots is about more than just cultural preservation; it’s about understanding where we come from so we can build a stronger, more connected future.

“The African diaspora is vast, with millions of people spread across the globe, and often there is a disconnection from the homeland. By reconnecting with our cultural heritage, we can cultivate a sense of belonging and unity that transcends borders.

“This reconnection is essential for fostering collaboration, sharing knowledge, and tackling common challenges. It’s an opportunity for us to come together, learn from each other, and create a powerful force for development.

“Travel is a powerful way to immerse oneself in the culture, history, and realities of the continent. At RealAfro Unity, we provide travel experiences that allow individuals to explore Africa, interact with local communities, and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities on the ground.

“These experiences also serve as a catalyst for deeper collaboration. When diaspora Africans visit the continent, they are not just tourists—they are agents of change, learning, and building relationships.

“We believe that by fostering these connections, we create a stronger network that can work together to promote development, address challenges, and create long-term positive change.”

While speaking on collaboration as a critical tool for growth and development, Adelegan stated:

“The African continent faces numerous challenges, but it also has immense potential. For true development to occur, we need to tap into the wealth of knowledge and skills that Africans in the diaspora have acquired through their experiences around the world.

“These individuals are often in positions to drive innovation, business growth, and social change. By fostering collaboration between the diaspora and those on the continent, we can combine resources, expertise, and creativity to solve pressing issues and create sustainable opportunities for future generations.

“RealAfro Unity acts as a platform to facilitate this exchange, allowing individuals to collaborate on projects, share business insights, and even invest in local initiatives that promote economic and social development.”
