Development: Ogun govt to give priority to public schools

Published by

Alhaji Olatunde Okewole, the Chairman, Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has expressed the readiness of the Ogun Government to prioritise the development of public primary schools.

Okewole made this disclosure on Friday in Abeokuta while monitoring the writing of the second term 2016/2017 Unified Examination of Public Primary Schools across the state.

According to Okewole, the development of basic education is expected to yield positive impacts on the pupils.

He said that the Gov Ibikunle Amosun administration, had invested heavily in education through its free education policy.

Okewole added that a large percentage of the state budget allocated to the sector in the last six years had also boosted basic education.

The SUBEB chairman urged teachers to be diligent in the discharge of their duties and admonished parents and guardians not to treat the education of their children with levity.

He urged parents and guardians to always encourage their children and wards in their academic pursuits.

Okewole said that the exercise was successful, as there was adequate supply of examination materials in all the schools visited.

He also gave kudos to both the teaching and non-teaching staff for a hitch-free exercise.
