UPDATE: Mask-wearing DSS operatives block National Assembly

DSS, National AssemblyDSS, National AssemblyMen of the Department of State Services (DSS) have occupied entrances to the National Assembly in the early hours of today (Tuesday).

The mask-wearing DSS operatives have prevented some lawmakers from entering the complex of the National Assembly among which was Senator Rafiu Ibrahim representing Kwara South.

Some lawmakers who were earlier prevented from entering the National Assembly complex have been allowed in.

The Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA) Mihammed Sani Omolori from gaining entry into the complex alongside his staff.

The Clerk, who is the Head of National Assembly Bureaucracy, who is equivalent to the Head of Service of the Federation, was denied entry when he introduced himself.

He was accompanied by members of staff of the Assembly.
He arrived the last gate of the Assembly at 9.58an and introduced himself as the Clerk.

When asked who are those people following him he introduced them as members of his staff.

The head of the DSS team told him “we can allow you in but none of your staff is allowed.”

The Clerk then declined to enter the complex without his staff. He left the gate at 10.am

No details yet as to why the DSS operatives surrounded the National Assembly.
