Depression almost killed me —Harrysong

Days back, the social media got frenzy, following a post that emanated from the instagram account of Afro pop singer, Harrysong, when he said his fans should not cry for him if he died.

Harrysong wrote on his page:” Don’t cry when I die. Put up a Kingmaker Concert, empower more youths. I have lived… I have done my bit..Carry on in grace. I love you all.”

The statement got many people troubled, as news quickly went round the social media space, with many asking what could possibly be going wrong with Harrysong, who is currently one of the most sought-after music stars.

Many of his fans took to his Instagram page to drop prayers and words of encourgament at his instance but the singer stayed silent as only those who were close to him could tell what was going on in his mind.

While some people felt Harrysong put up the post as another publicity stunt to keep himself in the minds of the people, others said he might have dropped the message to promote a new song that could be released anytime from now.

Popular artistes such as D’banj, Skiibii, Igodye, BankyW, among others, prayed for the artiste, urging him to stay strong in the face of whatever challenges he might be going through.

On Friday, when R reached out to Harrysong on the matter, he confirmed that he was going through some difficult times that put his life in danger over the past months.

The Tekero singer, who pulled away from Five Star Music about two years ago to float his label, Alter Plate records, stated that depression was a silent killer, adding that he was currently trying to get back on his feet gradually.

“I am gradually getting my feet back. I have learnt to always show love and be kind to people. Depression is a silent killer, learn to unburden your mind to trusted ones. I love all my fans for their concern. In no time, I will be better and back on the grind,” he said.
