All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos has described its victory at the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal as “democracy in action”.
Justice Mikhail Abdullah of the State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal had on Monday, dismissed the petitions by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and the Labour Party, and Olajide Adediran, also known as Jandor of the Peoples Democratic Party, which challenged the victory of Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Dr Obafemi Hamzat in the March 18 governorship.
The tribunal dismissed the petition by Jandor for lack of evidence.
Reacting to the judgment, spokesperson of the party, Hon. Seye Oladejo, also congratulated the two main challengers, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) for putting up a good contest.
He enjoined the PDP and the LP to join hands with the government of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat to move the state forward.
He said, “Let’s congratulate the voters, the electorate and by extension the people of Lagos for the verdict of the tribunal and the preference of Lagos voters during the last governorship election.
“I described it as democracy in action. It is now we can say the contest is officially over and the party will want to assure Lagosians that the government will deliver on its promises and will continue to provide good services that will continue to take our State to the next level.
“We also want to congratulate the LP and the PDP for a very good election and enjoin them to join hands with the state government to move the state forward.”
